An Exotic Journey through Volcanoes: 2 Day Gorilla Trekking
The Volcanoes National Park is a stunning destination, located in the Virunga Mountains of Rwanda. It is home to around 900 endangered mountain gorillas and is one of the few places in the world where you can have the chance to observe them in their natural environment. During the trek, you’ll be able to explore the dense jungles, climb up mountains and pass through bamboo forests. You’ll be able to observe the gorillas from a distance, as well as learn about their behaviour and the importance of conservation.
Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Musanze
Your driver/guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Kigali or the Airport. You will continue your journey to the north of Rwanda, home of the Mountain Gorilla. You shall stay at Musanze known for its tranquillity and views.

Day 2: Gorilla Tracking – Kigali
An early morning start for a special day – Trekking the Mountain Gorillas!
Your gorilla trekking adventure will start with a briefing about the gorillas, their behaviour, and the rules for observing them. Then, you’ll be taken to a gorilla group in the park, where you’ll be able to observe them from a safe distance. This experience is truly unique, and you’ll be able to see these majestic animals up close and learn more about their habits.
Your driver/guide will take you as close as possible to the starting point of your tracking. Your track will be an exciting journey along forested slopes, entwined vines, bushes, and bamboo before you eventually reach the Gorillas’ habitat. En route, your guide will point out signs of previous Gorilla activity, including dung, nests and chewed bamboo shoots
The time taken to track the Gorillas can take as little as half an hour to as much as 8 hours! Once the Gorillas have been located, you will be allowed a maximum of one hour with them. Coming face-to-face with a Mountain Gorilla is a truly humbling and emotional experience.
This is a fantastic and privileged opportunity to get up close and personal with Rwanda’s own ‘Gorillas in the Mist’.
Back to the Hotel for Lunch and Relax then drives you to Kigali to Hotel or Kigali Airport
Note: Rent a Car Kigali purchases the permits in advance but is unable to reserve a specific gorilla group as it is for the head ranger to decide this!

The bookings with the lodge mentioned in the program depend on availability. Reservations will only be made after your booking. In case the mentioned hotels are not available during the requested period, we will do our utmost to book a hotel in the same class for you (of course we will only do this after consulting you).
It is not possible to ‘reserve’ gorilla tracking permits. Therefore, we can only buy them after your booking and down payment.
