Daily rates
- Single rooftop tent setup — $120/day: One tent mounted on the Land Cruiser roof, sleeping 2 people comfortably. Ideal for couples or solo travelers.
- Extended Land Cruiser with two tents — $180/day: Two rooftop tents for up to 4 people, plus extra luggage space in the extended cargo area. Best for families or small groups.
Both rates include insurance, unlimited mileage and all camping equipment listed above.
Best places to camp in Rwanda
- Akagera National Park — lakeshore campsites at Camping Shakani and Camping Mutumba. Waking up to hippos calling across Lake Ihema is unforgettable. Self-drive and camping permitted inside the park.
- Nyungwe National Park — ORTPN campsite near the park headquarters. Cool highland temperatures, incredible birdlife from first light.
- Lake Kivu — Rubavu and Karongi — several lakeside campsites and affordable guesthouses with camping areas. Good base between Volcanoes and Nyungwe.
- Musanze (near Volcanoes NP) — campsites and budget guesthouses for pre-gorilla-trek nights.

How many people does the rooftop tent sleep?
The standard single rooftop tent sleeps 2 people comfortably on a full-size foam mattress. The extended Land Cruiser has two rooftop tents, sleeping up to 4 people. All bedding is provided.
Do I need to bring any camping equipment?
No. Tents, sleeping bags, mattress pads, cooking equipment and kitchen basics are all provided. You need to bring your own food, drinks, personal toiletries and clothing.
Are park camping fees included in the rental price?
No — national park camping fees are paid directly at each park gate. Fees vary by park and season. We provide current rate information when planning your itinerary.
Can I book the rooftop tent vehicle with a driver-guide?

What if it rains — are the tents waterproof?
Yes. The rooftop tents are fully weatherproof with a rain fly. They are designed for African weather conditions including heavy tropical rain. You will stay dry.
