Airport transfers with a driver-guide
Need a driver only for your arrival or departure? We also offer standalone Kigali airport transfers — a driver meets you at arrivals with a name board and takes you to your accommodation, or collects you for a departure flight.
Frequently asked questions
Does the driver-guide also guide inside the national parks?
Our driver-guides handle all transport logistics and provide general cultural and geographical context throughout the journey. Inside national parks, official park ranger-guides lead the actual treks (gorilla, chimpanzee, wildlife drives) as required by park regulations. Your driver waits at the vehicle during treks.
Is the driver-guide’s accommodation included in the daily rate?
For multi-day trips, driver-guide accommodation is typically arranged separately. When we send your quote, we include a per-night driver accommodation cost which is usually $15–25 depending on the area. Meals for the driver are not included in the rental rate.
Can I switch between self-drive and driver-guide mid-trip?
Yes, this can be arranged with advance notice. For example, you might self-drive from Kigali to Lake Kivu, then request a driver-guide to join you for the more complex park sections. Let us know your planned itinerary and we will organise accordingly.
What languages do your driver-guides speak?
All our driver-guides speak fluent English and Kinyarwanda. Several also speak French, Swahili or Luganda. If you have a specific language requirement, mention it when booking and we will match you where possible.
Can the driver-guide help with restaurant or hotel recommendations along the route?
Yes — this is one of the most valued parts of having a local driver-guide. They know the best local food spots, guesthouses with good value, and places most tourists miss. Feel free to ask.
